I thought the council was a team? There are major philosophical differences. I am for less government. I do not believe taxpayer funds should be used to donate to charities, that is a personal decision. I do not believe your tax dollars should fund social programs.
Why is there such division in our city? We used to meet together as a city on the National Day of Prayer. We used to have a united Chamber of Commerce. We used to have a city event sponsored by Mansfield Churches for the City. All of these have been dismantled over the past 4 years.
How many apartments are we going to have? I do not believe we need any additional multi-family zoning in our future. Since I was first elected I have strived to find a balance in our tax base types so that we continue to relieve the burden on homeowners and sustain our infrastructure over the long haul.
Why doesn't the city just stick to the basics; police, fire, water, sewer, roads? I agree, no one cares how pretty your parks are if you're too scared to walk through them so the basics are priority, but a city is nothing without the people and building community through parks & programs is what makes us Mansfield.
How can we move forward? I want citizens to know that I want us to just be MANSFIELD, without an agenda for any specific group and I want to promote projects and events that foster that belief. If it makes ALL of us better then I am for it!
